Exercise 101 for lazy bums

2 11 2008

If you’re like me, you may not be fond of physical activity and exercise. But, when you start exercising when you’re young, you will look and feel better now and when you’re older. And who doesn’t want to do that?

But, you say, I’m lazy and I don’t like physical activity. Well, here are some tips to get your butt out of the chair and get on the road to a healthier lifestyle.

  1. Start slowly. You’re not going to be able to do 100 crunches on the first day, nor should try. Start small and build your way up.
  2. Schedule workouts. Figure out the best time for you to work out and stick to it– this is the hard part.
  3. Make it a habit. Doing it the same time, every day will help you keep going. Of course, this only works if you’re at the same place…(I’m struggling with this one myself)
  4. Don’t put so much focus on losing weight. Let’s face it, it takes time for the pounds to come off. If you’re not losing weight as quickly as you want, you may be more inclined to quit. Change your habits first, then worry about losing weight.
  5. Reward yourself. Yes, you can treat yourself with sweets- just don’t overdo it.
